Hey all. Sorry I didn't get on here until NOW today, but I have been ALL OVER THE place for this conference. Anyhow- My presentation went well, and the whole darn thing went well. We are about to have the potluck portion of the conference pretty soon, so.. that's cool. One conference check-marked for this semester. Three more to go. Oofta.

I hope all of you can get on here this weekend. If not, I hope to email you all with a new and exciting week of BB stuff on Sunday. Take care... and keep bloggin'.

What a beauiful day!!.. minus the pellets of snow-ish rain. I practically skipped from my car to the office.. I can't wait for spring!

Anyhoo- As for Thirsty Thursday, I find that many people assume teachers don't have social lives. I ran into that when I taught high school. It was wrong by some to go out on the weekends and have fun. So.. I am constantly telling myself that I need my social life/down time in order to be a better teacher/academic. If I didn't have fun once in awhile, with or without a beer or two, I think I would stress out more.. and not be as fun. It's all about balance. As for the partying on campus, I do admit that I don't remember much of my freshman year because 1) it was so long ago and 2) because I partied a lot. But.. it was fun, I met people, and I don't regret it.

I am not sure what else I have to say on the issue. How about the rest of you??

So, I am startin' the Blog-A-Thon with myself a little late today. I needed to sleep in, however, since I didn't sleep the night before or get a nap yesterday. Before I start complaining, I'll just give the URL to my own Blog-Every-Hour entries: http://www.xanga.com/teacher47. I have so much to do today, that I have no time to hide the URL. Now, THAT is busy!

Anyone else going to give Wednesday a different topic??
Helene, how is your Blogging today going?

I am in a good mood today (run-off from yesterday?), so this might be tough. Either that or it'll put me in a bad mood.
Things that Tick Me Off:
- Stupid opinion columns in the Spectrum (my own included)
- The front of my hair when it lays flat and looks funky
- People who don't let me listen to techno in my own car (you know who you are Alisa)
- X-Boyfriends that tick off my sisters and start dating girls RIGHT after a breakup
- The bags I am starting to get under my eyes
- The Hilton sisters who have too much money and should give me some

I like to move towards Things that Don't Tick Me Off so I can return to my good mood. I like when I wake up to warmer weather, students that talk and laugh with me, and I like running into former students that give me hugs at 8am in the morning.

Things that put me in a Good Mood:
>BisonBloggers who get on here before I do and start out the day without me hounding them. Makes me smile "Rock on, people already started the day off right!"
>Students that start talking in an 8am class without me having to stare each one of them down. Students that make me laugh. Students that bring up events that relate to my life (because I try to bring up things that are related to theirs).
>Driving in my car.
>Driving in my car and suddenly hearing one of my favorite songs at that time.
>Blogging.
>Shopping.
>Shopping and finding an awesome pair of shoes/jeans/etc at an inexpensive price.

>Watching Sex and the City in my room on my iBook, curled up in my new soft sheets, with a glass of Kool-Aid.

For those of you wanting to do the Blog-A-Thon on Wednesday with me, here's what I am going to do (and you can tweak this to your liking): On Wed., whenever I get up, I am going to try to get onto either this blog or my other one (listed along the side -->) every hour (until midnight, I suppose?). I am going to try to make my entries small and descriptive and try to just "stay in that moment" instead of predict what will happen the rest of the day or discuss what happened last week, etc. This should be an interesting experiment to do to myself.

It's so nice out! *knock on wood*

P.S. Have any of you tried a blogging contest with yourselves? Like to blog every hour during one day to see what you are thinking (kind of like Charles's latest comment on his blog). Some blogger "out there" in the world of blog did it only he blogged every 5 minutes for an hour. Anybody wanna try it on here (or on their personal blog) with me on Wednesday? It'll be our own little contest.
