Ok so the whole speach thing that I was getting sooooo incredibly frustrated about earlier, well, I got a standing ovation for it. Yeah, you read the words and if you don't believe me you can go back and read them again. It was only one guy but he stood up and the whole class was legitemtly clapping not that "oh its time to clap" type clapping. No this was that "holy buckets of blazzing crab legs this guy is freaken awsome" sort of clapping. Honestly it was probably the most wonderful day of my life that I can remember (I'm thinking that being born was really cool but as I don't remember it I can't compare). My speech was so incredible because I just simply gave up on trying to memorize it. After spending two days trying to memorize my speech a good friend of mine, Joanie, told me to stop trying to say my speech word for word and just have fun with it, just let the speech roll. I basically decided it was my only chance and went with it. I was so nervous though, my left hand was shaking furiously and I think I almost bored a whole in the ground with my pacing. It doesn't matter though because I got a standing ovation! The audience was giving me all sorts of response too, like when I pulled a pop can out I could see the expression of my audience go "what in the world is he gonna do with that" and then when I set it on the ground one guy in the back said "O yeah!". I missed the can a little with my foot, it flew off and almost hit my friend in the front row, but hey it all worked out splendidly in the end seeing as I how I got a standing ovation! I want to thank Joanie for the advice, Jenilee for listening to me recite my speech over and over again, and the guy who stood up and clapped for me!

We have ANOTHER member.. YIPPEE. Welcome Jenilee --> Plus, Katie will be on here soon blogging away... (Maybe this thing will just catch on by word-of-mouth! That would be FANTASTIC.)

So... I have great news. I haven't even had time to tell YOU this, Kevin, but I got my blogging abstract accepted by a Popular Culture conference (with a weblogging session!!) at San Antonio in April! Whoopee! Yea. I am pretty excited. I am a blogging geek that will be surrounded by other blogging geeks... AND some will be academic, some won't, and some will be graduate students too. Now basically I need to start writing my thesis so I have stuff to read at these upcoming things... that SOUNDS easier than it IS. Erf.

Another geeky thing: I got way too many ideas from a teacher inservice on Friday. I went in a tired-mode and ended up rejuvenated. I got home and revised my 120 syllabus (design and assignment-wise, the schedule is pretty good as is) as well as thought through this awesome idea I got for 110... even though that will have to wait until last fall (IF I teach a 110: *crosses fingers*).

I am glad to see people on here if only once in a while to give a "shout out"... I appreciate all the entries you've all contributed (<--my early Thanksgiving thoughts!).
