Jen, thanks for sharing your story. Builds a better community than me asking what blogs enhance, retrieve, etc., etc.,
Sybil, in addition to adding Jen's blog, you added Dave's too, right? I hadn't seen it before--sweet! I finally got blogging on my my home front again, although fairly academic, again. I should probably be blogging my son's progress in Tony Hawk Pro Skater 2--he just opened up the Philadelphia level!
Erik, I know those Coppola films, and they can be found in the Tri-College Film Library, as well as the Fargo Public, I think. Everyone should watch them, really. I need to show them in my Visual Culture and Language class.
And now for something new... If anyone is near Ehly Hall, they should stop in an look at the personalized post-cards done by the Architecture students. Cool idea for a visual communication assignment. I also talked to a student today about getting her to make me a set of christmas cards that I can send out--she might go into business if others like the idea of custom-ordered cards for all occasions. If you want a set, let me know, and I can play middle-man. Maybe I can convince her to blog!

Wow, Jen. Big happenings with an ending I am quite grateful for. And I highly doubt anyone was reading this with negative thoughts toward that entry. If so, you are right with your thoughts on what they should do.
-To add to that, I am sorry I didn't have your personal weblog listed --> over there. I just recently discovered that yours wasn't listed. Stupid me! I apologize.
-And another thing: I need to interview you about your weblogging activity.. you are extremely personal when you write, and you were always fabulously opinionated on the class blog we had in class... basically, you blog differently than I do.. you put yourself out there in an amazing way. It is greatly appreciated. Just thought I would throw that at you.
I am dealing with the point in the fall semester that I always have. Two to three weeks of feeling like I am not teaching "right".. my students, however, informed me otherwise. They like the projects we are doing and the fact that I allow for so much variety in what we do and write about. But, some days I just get down on myself. Plus, I am getting the "oh crap I am graduating soon" bug. At least 10 people have asked me what I am going to do after.. I hate that. I want to reply sarcastically which makes them think I detest my education.. but I don't. It's an odd situation. I just like to shrug.

Jennifer, I am glad to hear that you are making some realizations about such important things. The only thing i may be able to add is that my family has a blog appropriately entitled the Kornkven Blog in which we all keep in touch and are able to talk in a different way than we would over the phone or at family functions, maybe you could set something up with your family? Just a thought.
Kevin,
I have lately been hearing about these movies that make me think of you immediately!! they are a series by Francis Ford Coppola. You may have heard of them. From what i have seen they are the epitome of visual communication. Movies without words that tell powerful stories about the world and the human condition. the second in the series is called Powaqqatsi, and the third is called Naqoyqatsi. This third one may be more up your alley in that it is predominantly about technology ion the world stage and again, it has no words, but uses every mode of technology to convey it's message. I think they are brilliant and think you would definetly find them interesting. You can buy them at best buy and i do not know if they are available for rent anywhere in town, but you should see if you can get ahold of a copy.
Anyways, talk to you all later.
