How ODD that I missed a VH1 thingie about blogs. I have that darn station on ALL the time. Okay, that or TLC. (In a past life, I was an interior designer.) Chelsea, was it on really, really late? Hmph. *smacks head*
Sidenote: A station I USED to watch religiously was HBO. Sex and the City. Luckily, I have the first four seasons now on DVD. I think I've seen each episode 3 times. When stressed, some people eat or work out, I watch Carrie Bradshaw. I have written in my personal blog how I am a fat version of Sarah Jessica Parker. Seriously, the nose.. the forehead.. and the HAIR. Duh! So now the question is.. do I wait to see if someone gets me the fifth season for my bday, or do I splurge now? Erg.
As for the intense discussion of relationships, trust, and inevitable evilness... wow. All I really have to say in response is what I have heard Sting say once: "The older I get, the less I am sure of things."
Example:A former student of mine, Tom, did a project in my class where he showed how he was good and evil. There were parts or situations in a story, and you'd pick the path at the end (remember the books that do that). It was really neat. He commented that while he was a good guy (I find him very genuine), he does have a level of "non-good" or evil in him. This leads me to this: Anne Frank said that all humans have good in them, but then... don't we all have some bad/evil in us too???

Trust is tricky.
I am a dork, so I trust people easily. But I have my "totem pole" system.
All people I meet start at the top of the totem pole.
Students, for example, usually earn trust (stay at the top) with me when I see that they are coming to class- putting forth effort- and not kissing my butt, but really being human and genuine (experience helps show the difference between those two things).
In the same respect, "friends" of mine that don't show up for events in my life or "friends" that are rude to other friends, etc just start to make their way down my totem pole.
I think we all have something similar to this. Basically, this guy started at the top and fell later on.
*If he were to reconcile with all of you- admit he was an idiot- then would he climb up a few notches?? Trust is hard to regain, isn't it?

Just for giggles, I copied and pasted all the BB entries into a document to save on my iBook (wouldn't that be horrible if one day I woke up, and this thing was DELETED!).. and just GUESS how many pages (single-spaced) we've written collectively?
41!
I almost fell off my rocker.

I actually have answers for BOTH of you. Utterly amazing isn't it? This has got to be a first.
Jeremiah: Overseas work. Well, if you want to teach.. try the DODEA (I bet their site is www.dodea.gov or something like that) program. I tried to get into it awhile back. You essentially teach at the bases where Americans are stationed. There are a whole bunch in Europe, for example. I hear the pay is awesome, and they pay for shipping all your crap over (car included, I think). My uncle's friend from high school did it, and she said she was only going to do it for a year or two. Well, she's been in Germany now for 20 years! Maybe you don't HAVE to teach.. he mentioned it to me because that's one of the programs.
David: The little Sqwakbox (sp?) button on our public site SHOULD take you to their site where you can sign up. It's free for the first year apparently. (I love free things.) As for talks of video games, I haven't read anything about 'em YET. Then again, LOTS of the titles for the books I am devouring have the word "community" in 'em. But I suppose, gamers need communities too.
My sis is being very anti-New Year's Eve-ish. Normally, she celebrates anything. I am surprised she hasn't been on here complaining. I should hog-tie her to the computer. Howz that for a teaching method?
Okay, lastly, (as the intoxicating scent of clove candles smack me upside the melon) I am no longer going to pretend that my bug is a Humvee. Today, I took her into the shop. Apparently, in my galavanting around town that one Monday we got 17 feet of snow (small exaggeration), I busted the shield under the driver's side. Ooops. Yea, a $100 oops. Nice job, silly girl!
*hollers into the BisonBlog cave* Anyone else with a Resolution? You've got under 4 hours!! :-P

It's been a while since I blogged on here. I like privacy when I write and since my dads computer is right next to mine I barely get any time to myself. Maybe I'd have more time to myself if I didn't spend all day sleeping, but hey I wouldn't want all this wonderful vacation time to go to waste.
The holidays have treated me pretty well. I got a bunch of stuff for my new apartment: knives, shower curtains, towels, a bathroom mat, shower curtain hooks, and a dvd player. I also got some new video game stuff and that's just from my dad and his side of the family. I have yet to see what the other half of my family got me.
I'm getting pretty excited here too because I'm heading out to San Francisco on the 1st to go to my brothers wedding. I'm gonna be a grooms man so I got a nice suit that I look, I believe the word is, debonair in. It makes me feel old to see my brother getting married. It wasn't too long ago he was giving me wedges so hard my underwear would tare. Now he's getting married and thinking about raising his own kids. Crazy.
Sybil how did you get comments on here? I'd love to get those on my own blogger site.
My New Years Resolution is to get back on the deans list, get a campus organization rolling, and start renting video games instead of buying them all the time.
I'm curious Sybil do these books you've been reading about online communities talk about video games? From my experience video gaming communities are extremely close. For some people online video games are like sports and for others they are communities of like minded people. I know people who train with their clan, clans are like sports teams in video games formed by people for the sake of improving team work, on a weekly or daily basis for actual online competitions many times with prizes of over $10,000 for first place. Then there are people who just play for the community they get to know people talk about stuff and play video games together. There are a lot of people united by the common bond of video gaming out there. For proof just go to gamespy and check the numbers at the bottom of the page when I checked there was almost 70,000 people playing Half-Life online alone. Not to mention massively multiplayer online role playing games(MMORPG) where the primary focus of the game is to form communities of people who play role playing games. These MMORPG's include Everquest, Final Fantasy XI, Dark Age of Camelot, and numerous others. Surf around the internet on various gaming sites and check the message boards and you should be able to see what I am talking about.

*drum roll*
What's Your New Year's Resolution?
I always have two, it seems. One to take seriously, and one just for fun.
1. Stop gossiping.
2. Find a place where I can keep writing. Magazine. Newspaper. Online?
Now, I need to decide which one to be serious with.
